Massage Practice
It has been said that ‘your biography becomes your biology’: the response of muscles and soft tissue to traumatic experience can lead to blocked energy with consequences that are both physical and emotional. Massage is an ideal form of nurturing that rebuilds resources on many levels. As such, it is equally appropriate for general relaxation and stress-related disease as for treating more obvious ailments.
When you visit for the first time, you will be asked about yourself and your lifestyle. A detailed account will emerge that will enable your sessions to be designed according to your specific requirements. If you have a medical condition that is a possible contraindication for massage, you may be asked to check with your doctor (only charged after receiving massage).
Therapeutic massage is generally received lying on a couch with most of the clothes removed. Modesty is assured as areas of the body not being worked on remain covered. Oils are applied to reduce friction, and large forearm movements incorporating rhythm engender a sense of interconnectedness throughout the body. A guided elbow or knuckle can provide localised pressure when needed but a very gentle ‘listening touch’ may be all that is required to bring unconscious holding into awareness. In the safe space that is created, physical and emotional release can be the start of significant self-healing.
Most sessions last for one hour, but you should allow longer for the first visit as this will include a detailed consultation.
The cost of the first session is £40. Subsequent sessions are normally £35 for 1 hour, but a reduction will be considered for long-term treatment. Concessions and gift tokens are available.
Home visits within 10 miles of Stroud are £40 for 1 hour.
